April updates

After a long period of planning and contacting people, our project is finally putting up our first fundraising event! We started planning almost two months ago. Before April 8th 2013, we were not sure where can we host our event. But with a lot of prayers and phone calls, we finally have a location! Everything now is working really smoothly together. Below are the details regarding our upcoming event:

Event name: Concert for Cambodia
Date: April 19th, 2013
Time: 7:00 PM
Location: Sager Creek Community Church, Siloam Springs
Featuring JBU Cathedral Choir and Orchestra to perform both hymns and classic pieces.

Free admission but donations are welcome!

Today, Laura, Nick, and I met with two faculty members and it was such an encouraging meeting. We felt like we are doing something that really worth pursuing. After 1 hour and 20 minutes of discussion, we left the meeting room with even more hope, ideas, and dreams. We believe that God is working through us and guiding us toward reaching our mission. God is really putting all these together because in the past few months there were so many "signs" which we thought were too good to be true. It started with the connections we have, the various mentioned of Cambodia from different sources, and passion and desire that God has put in our heart.

We praise God for what He has done and continue to be doing with our group!

Please continue to pray for this project as we are putting everything together.
Pray for team members and everyone involves that God will continue give us wisdom to carry out His mission.
Even though we don't know yet, but please pray for the future community which we will be impacting.

First meeting of 2013!

Today we had our kickoff meeting for the spring semester! We had the chance to reconnect with team members and begin brainstorming for our observational trip to Cambodia this summer.

Our main item of business was thinking of ideas to comprise a proposal for a pastor who will be traveling to Cambodia next week. We decided to focus on the educational aspect of our mission statement as a way to begin dialoguing with the Cambodian people. Ideas include curriculums for churches and/or schools, English camps (using something like TESOL), and providing basic needs such as toys and t-shirts through care packages. We will be typing up this proposal and sending it to the pastor by this weekend.

In the meantime, we will continue to think of fundraising ideas as well as brainstorm ideas for a promotional video.
